We are an association of professionals dedicated to the professional and educational goals of our membership. The leadership of the organization seeks to promote a professional and collegial relationship with the School Administration and the Board of Education. We also seek to maintain a close working relationship with the parents of our students as well as the wider community of Ramsey.
While negotiating a collective bargaining agreement is part of our function, we also provide a broad variety of services. For example, the RTA is a regular participant in the Ramsey Day festival each fall, giving the community members a chance to meet and speak with the teachers outside the classroom in an informal setting.
Through membership in our organization, teachers can also avail themselves of dozens of professional development workshops and conferences run by our county, state and national organizations. Teachers participate in online forums on educational issues, as well as shared lesson plan sites, and cutting-edge professional discussions about pedagogy. It all begins with the local association. To learn more, contact the Association President, Amy Vinopal at the email or phone listed.
The Mission of our sister organization, the Ramsey Teachers Philanthropic Association, is to encourage, recognize, and assist the students of the Ramsey Public Schools in their pursuit of learning. We are very proud of our Philanthropic Fund, which is solely supported by teacher payroll deductions and fundraisers, and is used to provide educational bonds and scholarship money for our students. We also provide library books in the name of each ‘graduating’ third grade class for the next generation of young learners. Our staff members are big supporters of the Ramsey Educational Foundation and many other community and civic organization activities. Nearly one quarter of our membership lives in Ramsey, so our community roots run deep.
