On Saturday, December 7th the REA joined the Main Street festivities for the 2nd annual “Home for the Holidays” parade. Over 35 REA members mingled and marched as part of Ramsey’s community-wide holiday celebration. Inspired by the parade’s theme of “RED,” the REA’s float conveyed our message of incREDible dedication!
Four REA members, Donna Volpe (Tisdale), Chris Davis (Smith), Kathy Pandise (Hubbard), Linda Seidman(Dater) attended a global Ipad Summit in Boston (Nov. 14-15) along with Dr. Richard Wiener, Director of Curriculum and Instruction. The summit was organized by Edtechteacher, an organization whose goal is to provide professional development for schools and teachers in order for them provide student-centered inquiry based learning environments while integrating technology. The summit included well known keynote speakers, and enlightening presentations over a two day period. We all agreed that this summit left us excited about the future of technology in education and the feeling that Ramsey has embraced many of the innovations and practices highlighted at the summit. Staff members at all five Ramsey schools lent their support to Smith School colleague Lynn Novak and her team “Chicks in Motion” as they participate in the 5th Annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Once again, Lynn Novak coordinated, with the help of friends in each building, a district-wide jeans day on October 4th as part of breast cancer awareness. Staff members were encouraged to contribute $5 to wear jeans and, of course, pink! A grand total of $1813 was collected! It will be donated to the Avon Foundation to support research and to help those who cannot afford screening and care.
